2024 ~ The Thread of Your Thought

Groupshow

Dreams of Gaia

September 20th - November 23th

Galerie Maria Wettergren ~Paris, France

-------------------------------

The exhibition The Thread of Your Thought brings together the work of eight contemporary artists and designers from Denmark and Norway, around the thread. Whether it is the thread that weaves, the thread that sews, the thread that connects or the thread that doodles, it is the thread as thought and as a tool for poetic reflection, which forms the red thread of the exhibition. From silk to optical fiber, over wool, mohair, cotton, sisal, polyester, viscose, nylon or carbon fiber, each work reveals an intimate thought and its journey, either rooted in century-old traditions or born from modern technologies, sometimes uniting both. The exhibition is a celebration of thread as a medium in Scandinavian textile art and design, mixing tradition and modernity, where ancestral techniques or materials meet sensitive and audacious contemporary approaches. In the words of Cecilie Bendixen: “The thread forms itineraries, systems and textures in which our thoughts are located, and new ways of organizing matter, allowing different thoughts, opening new paths in unknown terrain. » More here

2024 ~ Weaving ~ Tradition and Innovation , group show:

GALERIE HANDWERK Handwerkskammer für München und Oberbayern, Germany

Heather, White Rose & Palladio on show:

October 16th - November 16th

————————————-

Tradition meets innovation - our exhibition is dedicated to one of the oldest textile techniques with a history stretching back thousands of years - weaving. From traditional techniques to modern innovations such as the computer-controlled loom, the Gallery of Crafts presents the work of designers with an international reputation.

Material combinations such as glass, paper or plastic open up new possibilities for weaving. But the exhibition also highlights traditional techniques such as hand weaving, which has now been declared an intangible cultural heritage.

Unusual materials and techniques such as algae, wood, upcycling and 3D design are explored from different perspectives. Avant-garde works are juxtaposed with those by young designers who have taken up this traditional textile technique and are using it to innovate and keep traditions alive.
