About Infinity Root ( words by Galerie Maria Wettergren ):

The textile sculpture ‘Infinity Root’ is a poetic symbol of the root of all life. This work is the result of Signe Emdal’s fascination with mechanisms of plant communication and collaboration strategies, through touch and sight senses. The sensitivity of the plant systems is extraordinary, and often invisible to the human eye. The plant’s intelligent strategies are designed so that they can sustain life on earth for millions of years.

The work is created using Emdal’s Loop fusion technique, based on a manual translation of the electric tufting machine. In this process, ongoing rows of loops with six thin mohair threads are woven together with wool in a classic rug construction.
